. metal to be used. Once you have your fram in mind, the decision has to made as to how big an engine is going to be used. Typical gokarts use a five horsepower brigg and Stratton, or Kohler engine. The advantage of using Briggs and Straton, is that the after market updrade parts are limitless. With a few upgrade, your five horsepower motor, can put out up to twelve horsepwoer. You need to think if you want an on road, or off road, and what tires you will use. You also need to decide if you will use a torque converter, or straigh chain drive. Another decision that has to be made is disk or drum brakes, mechanical, or hydrolic. With some careful planning, you can build a gokart that will provide years of enjoyment.
